Jack Holt Regatta - May Day long weekend
The Jack Holt regatta has been held for many years over the May Day long weekend, hosted by the lake Cootharaba sailing club in the Noosa shire.
jack Holt was a prolific designer of sailing dinghys in the UK in the mid 20th century and designed the Heron dinghy as well as many other classes.
The Jack Holt regatta is open primarily to dinghy classes of his design.
Located on the esplanade in the boreen Point village, Lake Cootharaba is arguably one of Australia’s premier dinghy sailing locations.
Nestled within the Cooloola National Park, the lake is a pristine body of water boasting shallow protected waters exposed to uninterrupted sea breezes.
Boreen point is a relaxing safe village where children can roam and have fun by the lake.
The Jack Holt regatta is also the venue for the Queensland Heron Championship and is eagerly competed on the water by top Heron Sailors from Queensland with regular visitors from southern states.
There is camping ground accommodation by the lake and many holiday rental houses which can be booked through Boreen Point realestate.
